How do the types of baby carriers differ from each other? Which one is best and how do I decide if it suits me? Is it OK to wear a newborn in a sling?

\"PlaygroupThe meeting was hosted by Playgroup Hellas Playgroups of Greece<\/strong><\/a>, a newly founded organisation with the aim of promoting and developing the institution of playgroups as they operate with great success abroad, adapted to the particularities and needs of Greece.<\/p>\n

The meeting took place at Kyprou 37B, Agia Paraskevi.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Guest event\/meeting in Serres by the association “Serraies manoules”<\/strong> : The non-profit association “Serraies Manoules”<\/strong>, with the aim of developing activities for mother and child, participated with a meeting dedicated to babywearing and baby carriers<\/a>, in Serres<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The above events took place within the framework of International Babywearing Week 2013<\/strong>. The babywearing.gr team was once again the official Greek participation, as an official celebrating group. See previous participations here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

September 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n

Babywearing is the hands-free cuddle; it is not about brands, types or difficult names. See how a bed sheet, an expensive baby carrier, or a sling you sew yourself all have the same goal: to place your baby in your arms, in the right position, while you are able to move. But then, what role do the “differences” between the various slings play? Is there really a difference? What is and isn’t worth looking into? These and much more we discussed at the September meeting.<\/p>\n

The meeting was hosted by Friends’ Corner<\/a>, an English-speaking playgroup, in its beautiful courtyard, at Archipelagous 14, Ano Glyfada.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"GEDSCThe meeting was hosted by the space of creative expression and mental health “to thalero”<\/a>, which aims to promote the mental health of adults and children through a series of activities that combine psychology with the arts, play and physical exercise.<\/p>\n

Are you about to return to work after maternity leave? Do you have twins? How do slings fit into the picture? We heard your own stories and your views at the March meeting.<\/p>\n

\nOutdoor meeting at the National Garden<\/strong><\/p>\n

After a visit to the Centre of Folk Art and Tradition, an outdoor meeting was held at the National Garden, for company and a chat.<\/p>\n

Carrying on Traditions<\/strong><\/p>\n

Do we carry our babies “traditionally”, or is babywearing “new”, exotic, alternative? Is it a foreign fad, or perhaps (also) part of the Greek tradition? How is it that prams, baby seats and bouncers are more familiar to new parents?
\nWhatever your opinion, whether you know babywearing or not, here is a nice opportunity to exchange views with parents just like you!<\/p>\n

The meeting was hosted by the Nursery Protovadismata<\/a>, Patron 3-5, Kolonos (near Larissa Station).<\/p>\n

The October meetings took place within the framework of International Babywearing Week 2012<\/a>, by the babywearing.gr team, which was once again, for the 4th consecutive year, Greece’s participation as an Official Celebrating Organization!<\/p>\n

Getting to know baby carriers and babywearing. The benefits of babywearing, the features of baby carriers and what makes them unique! The advantages and disadvantages of each type, help and support for parents who wear their babies!<\/p>\n

The babywearing team met this time in Thessaloniki! You had been asking us for a meeting in Northern Greece, and IBW2011<\/a> was the best opportunity to make it happen! The meeting was introductory, for getting to know babywearing<\/strong> and the various types of baby carriers! (Of course, it had all the features of our team’s meetings: it was held voluntarily<\/strong>, without any advertising<\/strong> or product promotion, with no participation cost<\/strong>, in a neutral space where no sales take place!<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

The meeting was hosted in its beautiful premises by the exemplary nursery \u201cMargarita\u201d<\/a> which has been operating since 1994 in Nea Krini, Kalamaria<\/strong> (in front of the Manos Katrakis park).

With the little carriers together – Music and Movement<\/strong><\/p>\n

For babies 5 months -12 months<\/strong> and daring parents. We wore our little ones in baby carriers, comfortable clothes and socks and enjoyed another activity that babywearing makes easier!<\/p>\n

The programme was coordinated and presented by Frantzeska Theodoroulaki<\/strong> at the beautiful venue of Mousikokinitiki<\/a>, Gounari 39 & Athanatou 1, Ano Glyfada, 2109613400.<\/p>\n

Participation was free for mums (or dads) with their baby in a baby carrier and the event was organised within the framework of International Babywearing Week 2011<\/a>.<\/p>\n

SPECIAL: Asteraki Slings at the Friends’ Corner Bazaar<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"AsterakiOn Sunday, 23 October 2011, Asteraki Slings took part in the Friends’ Corner “Bizarre Bazaar”, where they were available for sale.<\/p>\n

In the beautiful courtyard of Friends’ Corner, free face painting for the children, homemade treats, creative activities and opportunities for affordable shopping!<\/p>\n

Who wears the baby besides mum? What role can babywearing play in helping our older children more easily accept their newborn sibling?
How does a baby carrier help the mum who works outside the home to “reconnect” with her baby? How can babies who stay with grandma or a nanny at home feel more comfortable and more easily get used to mum’s morning absence?

Before the summer getaway and visits to the nearest beaches, we discussed summer travel with the baby and how (and in which cases) babywearing and baby carriers can help make everything easier!<\/p>\n

Slings and all kinds of baby carriers! At a wonderful meeting we discussed how safe they are, what the points to watch out for are and the correct ways of positioning for the comfort of the parents and the safety of the babies. How babywearing can be a lifesaver and how it helps our baby to be safer and healthier, while being calm and happy in our arms!<\/p>\n
