Take your baby in your arms and hold them on your shoulder, above the seam of the pouch, just as you would to burp them.

2. Lower them slowly downward, between you and the pouch (folded for now), passing their little legs through (on both sides of the fabric) so that they come out from below.

3. When their little legs start to come out from below, unfold the seam. With one hand pull the lower part downward (so it reaches the child’s knees) and with the other pull the upper part upward (toward their shoulders). The seam will be on the child’s back (parallel to their spine).

4. As you “lower” your baby, help them open their little legs by “hugging” your body with them, and let them “sit in the pouch”. Make sure their legs are open, and that their knees are higher than their bottom. If you feel the baby should be closer to you, try the “trick: turning the shoulder”!

Depending on where you placed the seam from the start, the child will be in front of you or slightly to the side. If you like, you can “turn” them wherever you want, supporting the child’s weight with one hand above the pouch and pulling the shoulder around your body with the other hand.

Note: This position is only suitable for babies who can sit on their own.

What to watch out for:

With children who have head control, the only thing you need to watch out for when carrying them in a pouch is that their legs are “open”, around your body, and that their knees are higher than their bottom. The baby’s posture in this position should resemble a rider on a horse!

They can have their arms inside or outside, it doesn’t matter, as long as the fabric is high up to their armpits so that their spine is supported.

If it’s the first time you’re trying to carry your “Asteraki”, make sure your baby has eaten and is changed and rested. Once you have “put them on”, start walking (almost immediately) and do something pleasant together (a walk outside will please them a lot and this way they’ll get used to it more easily).

back: Instructions with pouch

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

Note: In the photos below I am already 5 months pregnant and my Vasilis is 13 months old and 15 kilos! This position is suitable for babies who can support their head (from about 2-3 months old).1.
