Other studies claim that this only applies to strollers and not to carriers (since then the baby feels mum). This is probably a matter of personal decision! In any case it is a position that is not recommended for a long time – see also in this video one more reason why this position is not the best choice for your comfort (if you wear your baby in a way that faces outwards, you may get tired faster than in other positions).

Be sure to also read this article: Baby facing outwards.

The age at which your baby will no longer fit in this position varies from baby to baby depending on its weight and its flexibility. (My son stopped liking the Buddha position with the legs in at around 6.5 months of age, my daughter felt very comfortable this way even when she was 11 months old).

In general, if the baby wants to look around, there are much better positions. Put on your sling in such a way that a big “pocket” is created in front of you (the inner side should rest against your chest and the outer one should be loose).

If it seems to you that your baby does not fit in the pocket, lift the ring by pulling the outer side, so that the pocket gets even bigger.

2. With the pocket open in front of you, take your baby in your arms and hold it in front of you, facing outwards.

“Fold” its little legs onto its tummy. (Make sure its back rests against your chest, so that it does not lean forward).

3. Lower it slowly into the sling, opening with your other hand the “pocket” you made in the first step.

Notice that the baby’s bottom is the lowest part of it inside the sling, while its little legs are up high, crossed on its tummy (like a “sitting Buddha”). Make sure there is enough fabric between you and the baby (deep pocket).

4. Hold your baby over the fabric of the sling. Supporting its bottom with one hand, lift with the other hand the fabric of the outer side of the pocket upwards, so that your baby is deep in the pocket.

5. Now you can pull the tail and stretch the fabric around your baby. To “tighten” the outer side of the sling you need to pull the inner edge of the tail. As always, it is better not to pull the tail straight down, but with a circular motion upwards and outwards.

Remember that for safety reasons the rings “lock” with the baby’s weight. So, while you pull the tail you must support the baby’s weight with your other hand.

6. You are ready to go for a stroll!

Especially in this position, you must be very careful when you bend forward. It is best to hold your baby with one hand and to bend by bending your knees and not your waist!

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

"Buddha" position (facing forward) – Ring Sling This position is suitable for babies who support their own head (from about 3 months).
