Baby cries in the carrier!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"fb-root\"><\/div>\n<h2>Why is my baby crying in the carrier?<\/h2>\n<p>Your baby, when worn in an Asteraki carrier, is in the best possible position.<\/p>\n<p>If the positioning is correct, a baby in an Asteraki will cry for only two reasons:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Either they would be crying anyway (e.g., sleepy, hungry, need a diaper change),<\/li>\n<li>or YOU are not feeling like your usual self \u2014 and your baby senses it.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So let\u2019s start with the assumption that the baby is otherwise calm: not hungry, not sleepy, not needing a change, <strong>and would be calm if held in your arms<\/strong>. Then:<\/p>\n<p>If someone says, \u201cMy baby doesn\u2019t seem happy in the carrier,\u201d we want to check three things:<\/p>\n<p>A. How you\u2019re wearing it.<br \/>\nB. What you\u2019re doing while wearing it.<br \/>\nC. If they can hold their head up but can\u2019t see out, they might get frustrated.<\/p>\n<p>Most adjustments are very simple \u2014 we\u2019re here to help!<\/p>\n<h2>What do you do while wearing it?<\/h2>\n<p>No mom anywhere in the world picks up her baby and stays <strong>completely still<\/strong> for more than 10 minutes. And no mom stands in front of a mirror holding her baby, wondering if the head is right, or the legs are OK. We go to the pediatrician \u2014 he says the baby\u2019s position looks great. I do chores at home \u2014 everything\u2019s fine. I have just one complaint.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Tell me, what\u2019s the complaint?<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Well, when I sit at the computer to write while wearing the baby, they fuss.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; And what happens when you sit with the baby in your arms?<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Oh, don\u2019t even ask. <strong>This baby never lets me sit!<\/strong> They want me not only standing \u2014 they want me walking.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; So they\u2019re not crying because they\u2019re in the carrier. They\u2019re crying because you\u2019re sitting!<\/p>\n<p>You could sit while babywearing \u2014 if your baby tolerates sitting at all!<\/p>\n<p>The baby in the Asteraki is in your arms. Do what you would do if they were in your arms. If they <strong>usually take a pacifier<\/strong>, give them one while worn. If they <strong>usually want you walking<\/strong>, they\u2019ll want the same thing in the carrier. If you\u2019re not calm, your baby thinks: \u201cIf mom\u2019s not relaxed, something must be wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s crucial that you feel relaxed when wearing your baby.
