Wearing your baby on your back is one of the most comfortable ways you can use, as it gives you freedom of movement while keeping your baby safe, away from whatever activity you are doing (e.g. if you are cooking, if you are washing the dishes, etc.)
It is also very pleasant for the baby because they have the chance to look comfortably around them (over your shoulder or from the side) while feeling the safety and security of being on mum or dad.
It is simpler than it looks, but you need to pay particular attention both to the basic rules of babywearing, and to the specific instructions you follow depending on the type of carrier you are using. Remember that the first few times you wear your baby on your back, it is a good idea to have someone with you who will make sure that your baby is safe at all times. Each time, make sure to check in a mirror that you have followed the instructions correctly.
Regardless of whether you are using a wrap or a mei tai, and regardless of the “tying” method you choose, most of the time you first need to get the baby onto your back and then “wrap” them with the carrier you are using. There are several ways to do this:
