How it is worn
What do you think would suit you? This is personal. Some people like to tie, others like to buckle. For some the buckles make them feel "like Robocop", for others they make them feel secure. Watch the videos above and think about what you can imagine yourself doing! Ask us to send you more videos if you'd like!

Baby's age/weight
From the very first day (even with very small/premature babies): 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 will suit you. All of them provide head support.
For newborns from 3,2 kgs: 8, 10, 11, 12 and 13 also suit you. All of them provide head support.
For newborns from 3,5 kgs: All are suitable except 9, for which the baby should be 6 months old.

Positions
Breastfeeding: All of them are suitable. With all of them you can breastfeed! If you want the baby to be in a cradle position, then 1, 3 and 4 are suitable. Read here why this is NOT necessary, nor is it the preferred position by most moms.
Baby facing out: 2, 10, 11 and 13 are suitable. Read here why this position is NOT necessary for the baby to see, nor is it recommended for long periods of time.
Baby on the hip, above your hip: This position is not possible with 9, 10, 12 and 13. This position uses one shoulder.
Back carry: You can't back carry with 3 and 13.

Support
Number 1 (Ring Sling) is the only one that uses one shoulder, all the others use both shoulders. Read here why even when only one shoulder is used, the weight is wonderfully distributed.
Ease of use
1 (Ring Sling) is easy to put on, it's harder to learn, it has rules. It's like driving a car: you have to learn not to cross on a red light and to use your turn signal before you turn. If you cross on a red light, you'll crash, it won't be the car's fault. With the ring sling, you have to wear it correctly for it to be right. Your baby will be safe as long as you follow the rules. The other carriers are like driving a train. There are no lights, no turns. That means you can't go wrong in terms of safety. The baby will definitely be safe.
Of course, just as so many people have learnt to drive, so too have so many moms learnt to wear a ring sling and follow the rules. If this is the one you like, then you'll learn it, and you'll have help from us too. It's just going to take a little learning time.
3 and 4 (the two wraps) and perhaps also 10 (Half-buckle), take a little more time than the rest. They are easy, but not as fast. The better you spread the fabric, the more comfortable you'll feel.
10 (Embrace), even though it has buckles, requires you to cross the straps behind you while you're putting it on, just like the mei tai. The Minimonkey is also mostly worn with the same procedure. On the other carriers with buckles, the straps are ready and buckled from the start, and you put them on like putting on a vest.

You can find ergonomic carriers starting from 45 eur (1, Ring Sling).
Carriers with buckles start from 99,90 eur, but pay attention to the age/weight range of each one.
Warm weather
Read here why the type of carrier doesn't play a big role in how hot you get. What matters more is that you feel comfortable with the carrier you have! That said, wraps use a lot of fabric that wraps around you several times and you may get warmer with them. Most types also have fabric options especially for summer and hot weather.
Cold
Read here why the type of carrier does not affect how you go out with the baby in the cold. You have plenty of options for everything!
Body type
With all carriers, even if the person wearing it is very tall and heavy, or has very large breasts, etc., the baby will be just as in your arms and the functionality will be the same. For 1, sling or 2, Mei tai the carrier can be made to order with a longer tail or longer straps. Carriers with buckles have a maximum waist circumference of around 135-140 cm.

Strain on the back/neck
There's no such thing as a weight-removing carrier. From there on, all the Asteraki carriers are ergonomic, they are the best way to carry your baby.

Frequently Asked Questions about: Which carrier should I get?
Which carrier is suitable for newborns?
Almost all of them! Apart from the Standard and the Away, all the other models are suitable for newborns, offering perfect support for both the baby's head and back. Note: the ring sling, the mei tai, the wraps and the minimonkey are also suitable for very small babies (even under 3 kgs). For the Ergobaby Omni, Embrace and Adapt the baby must be at least 3,200kg, while for the Luna Dream, KinderHop it must be 3,5kg.
Which carrier will I be able to wear without help?
All of them on this page! Of course! If you needed someone to help you put it on, you'd just tell them "Hold the baby yourself, so I can do my work"! That's exactly why you want a carrier, so you don't need help!
With which carrier can the baby be facing out?
This position is ergonomically supported by the mei tai, the Ergobaby Omni, and the Ergobaby Embrace. However, with all the carriers the baby will be able to comfortably look all around (once it can hold its head) from other positions too.
Which carrier is suitable for very hot weather?
Avoid the wraps and the half-buckles. Go for ring slings or soft and cool mei tais, or carriers made from bamboo fabric. Mesh (perforated) fabric helps a lot too!
Which carrier is the fastest?
All the carriers can be put on in less than a minute from start to finish, except the wrap, for which you may need half a minute more.
With which carrier can I breastfeed? Which one is ergonomic? Which one can both parents wear?
With all the carriers on this page you'll be able to breastfeed comfortably. They are all ergonomic, certified, and ideal for the baby's development. Both parents can wear all of them and they come in no sizes.
Which carrier is ideal for older babies?
Avoid the stretchy wrap, the Embrace and the Minimonkey (mainly for comfort, not so much for weight capacity).
What if I put it on wrong?
Apart from the ring sling, none of the above carriers let you make a mistake in terms of safety. It's certain the baby will be fine, no matter how you put them on. With the ring sling, though, you have to be careful to wear it correctly. Just as when you drive a car, you have to drive properly to be safe, so it is with the sling: If you follow the rules, everything will be perfect!
