How to thread your ring sling correctly through the rings
There are several ways to do this. Some people do it while wearing their sling, others pass the whole tail through together and others start from the corners. By trying it out you will surely find what suits you best. Below is an easy and quick way. You will not need to do this every time you want to wear your sling. Most likely you will only thread it after each wash. Generally, you will put it on and take it off already threaded through the rings.
1. You hold your sling, with the rings in one hand and the tail in the other. Try to keep the same side facing you along its whole length (so that it does not turn/fold at any point). Bring the tail close to the rings and pass it through them.
2. You pull all of the tail that you have passed through the two rings so that enough fabric passes through (so that your sling folds into about three parts). Then you open the rings (move one away from the other).
3. You “return” the tail to its original side, passing it between the rings, over the first ring and through the second.
4. You pull the tail to tighten it and you have completed the process!
It will help you a lot to make sure now (before you wear your sling) that the fabric is evenly spread over the rings. If it has folded or if it has twisted it will make adjusting the tail difficult later.
5. Move the rings apart slightly, grab one edge of the fabric (the hem) and, starting from one edge (hem) of the fabric, spread it out slowly over the ring (as if you were opening a fan, or as you would fan out the cards of a deck in your hand to see them all) until you reach the other edge. You will make sure the edges stay free (that the fabric does not fold onto itself at any point).
6. That is why you will re-tighten the tail first from the edges and then from its center. In other words, the whole width of your sling will be evenly spread out covering one ring. This way it will be much easier to adjust when you wear it! See how the two edges of the tail are “open” as they come out of the rings. If you cannot repeat the above process (e.g. while wearing your sling), an easy way to achieve this result is to grab the two edges and pull them in the opposite direction, opening them up.
The same method is shown in this video too (with a double-sided silk ring sling so that the movements and the fabric are more visible):
