How to carry your baby in the “straddle” position (with the sling between the legs)

This position is suitable for babies who can support their head and who have basic lateral support (that is, from around 5 months and up).

The video below describes in detail how we can carry our baby in this position.

The position above is preferred by parents of babies who tend to stretch their legs downward in the sling in the classic upright position with the legs out, or who want to have at least one side free (with the arms out) and be able to look around. However, this position is also preferred by many babies who like to “hide” their face in mum’s embrace so they can fall asleep. It is also ideal for breastfeeding in an upright position.

The drawback of this position is that it cannot be considered 100% hands-free; in some cases you may need to hold the baby from one side. It is very convenient for parents who are used to carrying their baby in hip carriers (hip seat type).
