On the side (with a cross)

This position is suitable for babies who can sit without support (from around 6 months).

Note: In the photos below I am already 6.5 months pregnant and my Vasilis weighs 15 kilos! Yet this is still a very comfortable position for carrying my baby!

The Wrap I use in these photos is a woven fabric, 4.5 metres long and about 70 centimetres wide. However, a shorter fabric could be used (2.5 or 3 m is enough for this position).

1. Hold the centre of the fabric in your hand…

2. … and let it rest on your shoulder. Bring both ends over your opposite hip…

3. … and cross them there, guiding them once again towards the opposite hip.

4. Tie an “adjustable knot” there, following the instructions you will find here.

5. Now you have an X over your hip, inside which your baby will sit, passing its legs to the sides of this X. (See a similar placement in the “simple cross” method).

6. Spread the fabric out well on both sides, so that it reaches from one of the child’s knees to the other. Then adjust the knot as needed so that the fabric is well tensioned and the child is at the right height.

7. This is a very convenient side position which, although it uses only one of your shoulders, manages to distribute the child’s weight very well across your entire back, shoulder and hips.

8. If needed, “fold” the fabric on your shoulder outwards, away from your neck, so that you feel comfortable.
