With a newborn baby in a sling, you go… everywhere!

“But where can I go with a newborn?” Everywhere! With a sling you don’t have to feel “imprisoned” — you can enjoy walks, errands, celebrations and trips, with your baby safe and content in your arms.

I hear this “difficulty” (“but where can I go with the baby?”) very often lately. Some friends stopped going out, stopped taking their older child for walks, and shut themselves at home with the baby for months. If it’s because they need time for themselves, I understand. If it’s because they feel the baby “restricts” them, it makes me sad.

Especially when they tell me they need to “get some air” and look for ways to manage it with the baby, my heart tightens. (That’s why, whenever I give a gift to a mum who has just given birth, it’s always a sling.)

Personally, with my newborn I avoided indoor spaces, but I went out for walks from the very first days. I needed it too, and it really helped my mood and state of mind! I didn’t want to feel “imprisoned” — it was important to feel that I was doing enjoyable things with my baby and delighting in my new “love” in everything.

I didn’t miss out on anything

I went with a newborn (or even with two babies) to picnics, to a christening, to parks, to family get-togethers — I danced, walked and had a wonderful time!

With baby Rea, off we go to exchange some of the gifts she was given.

A few days after Rea was born, the whole family went to “Santa’s village”. It was wonderful and Vasilis loved it!

My older child wanted a trip to the zoo — and I didn’t want him to feel he was missing out and that it was “the baby’s fault”!

Wearing my baby, I could enjoy many of my favourite activities: (hopeless) attempts at flying a kite, a friends’ barbecue on the balcony, shopping at IKEA.

I’m so happy I discovered babywearing — it has given me so many wonderful moments with my children, and I couldn’t imagine it any other way!

I wish your little ones long, happy lives and hope you enjoy every moment! Happy babywearing!
