What is babywearing, and how could this ancient art serve new parents by ensuring optimal psychomotor development, connection with the baby, freedom of movement for mum, as well as practicality and simplicity in our everyday life!
The meeting was organised by The Joy of Birth (Group and Private Sessions in Childbirth Education, Maternity -Mental Health- Counseling, Antenatal Pregnancy Yoga, Birth/Postpartum Doula Services).

What is babywearing? Will a baby carrier suit me? Will my baby like it? Will I be able to breastfeed and get things done? Will it help me with breastfeeding? Will it offer relief to my baby who has colic or reflux? Which type of carrier is the best? Will it tire me out quickly?
At this meeting, we discussed how to make things easier for us and for our baby, from the first days for as long as we all want cuddles.

With our little ones (in the bump or in our arms), with our questions and our queries, we met to get to know each other, to have a relaxed Sunday coffee or tea and to talk about babywearing, about cuddles, about the magical way of raising our babies in our arms without giving up anything we want to do and without our baby missing out on us!

The meeting was hosted by Playgroup Hellas Playgroups of Greece, a newly founded organisation with the aim of promoting and developing the institution of playgroups as they operate with great success abroad, adapted to the particularities and needs of Greece.
The meeting took place at Kyprou 37B, Agia Paraskevi.
Guest event/meeting in Serres by the association “Serraies manoules” : The non-profit association “Serraies Manoules”, with the aim of developing activities for mother and child, participated with a meeting dedicated to babywearing and baby carriers, in Serres.
The above events took place within the framework of International Babywearing Week 2013. The babywearing.gr team was once again the official Greek participation, as an official celebrating group. See previous participations here.

Babywearing is the hands-free cuddle; it is not about brands, types or difficult names. See how a bed sheet, an expensive baby carrier, or a sling you sew yourself all have the same goal: to place your baby in your arms, in the right position, while you are able to move. But then, what role do the “differences” between the various slings play? Is there really a difference? What is and isn’t worth looking into? These and much more we discussed at the September meeting.
The meeting was hosted by Friends’ Corner, an English-speaking playgroup, in its beautiful courtyard, at Archipelagous 14, Ano Glyfada.

Babywearing from A to Z
The meeting was hosted by the space of creative expression and mental health “to thalero”, which aims to promote the mental health of adults and children through a series of activities that combine psychology with the arts, play and physical exercise.

Babywearing from A to Z
What is babywearing? Why does it help our babies feel better? Is it true that they cry less if we wear them in slings? How is this different from classic carriers? Is it OK to wear a newborn in a sling? Might it spoil them? Might it strain the back of the mum and dad who carries? Might it, in any case, only be for a few months?
Can all these questions be answered in one meeting? We will try, at the November meeting!
The meeting was hosted by Dimitris Soulis, cardiologist, homeopath (and dad and babywearer) at his practice, which is located near the Megaro Mousikis station, Arnis 12 street.

Outdoor meeting at the National Garden
After a visit to the Centre of Folk Art and Tradition, an outdoor meeting was held at the National Garden, for company and a chat.
Carrying on Traditions
Do we carry our babies “traditionally”, or is babywearing “new”, exotic, alternative? Is it a foreign fad, or perhaps (also) part of the Greek tradition? How is it that prams, baby seats and bouncers are more familiar to new parents?
Whatever your opinion, whether you know babywearing or not, here is a nice opportunity to exchange views with parents just like you!
The meeting was hosted by the Nursery Protovadismata, Patron 3-5, Kolonos (near Larissa Station).
The October meetings took place within the framework of International Babywearing Week 2012, by the babywearing.gr team, which was once again, for the 4th consecutive year, Greece’s participation as an Official Celebrating Organization!

Topic: Creating bonds with the baby
Newborn babies in the big, wild world outside the womb.
The importance of creating bonds, the concept of “boundaries” and “self”, in the so-called “fourth trimester” after pregnancy. How and why little babies benefit from close contact and babywearing, how babywearing can help establish breastfeeding and the relationship of trust between mum and newborn baby.

New member in the family!
Newborn babies in baby carriers: Come and let’s discuss the correct positioning of newborns for comfort and safety.
But also topics such as breastfeeding in a baby carrier, our older children and how they react to the arrival of the newborn, how babywearing can be great help for the new mum!

Get to know babywearing – Thessaloniki!
Getting to know baby carriers and babywearing. The benefits of babywearing, the features of baby carriers and what makes them unique! The advantages and disadvantages of each type, help and support for parents who wear their babies!
The babywearing team met this time in Thessaloniki! You had been asking us for a meeting in Northern Greece, and IBW2011 was the best opportunity to make it happen! The meeting was introductory, for getting to know babywearing and the various types of baby carriers! (Of course, it had all the features of our team’s meetings: it was held voluntarily, without any advertising or product promotion, with no participation cost, in a neutral space where no sales take place!).
The meeting was hosted in its beautiful premises by the exemplary nursery “Margarita” which has been operating since 1994 in Nea Krini, Kalamaria (in front of the Manos Katrakis park).

With the little carriers together – Music and Movement
For babies 5 months -12 months and daring parents. We wore our little ones in baby carriers, comfortable clothes and socks and enjoyed another activity that babywearing makes easier!
The programme was coordinated and presented by Frantzeska Theodoroulaki at the beautiful venue of Mousikokinitiki, Gounari 39 & Athanatou 1, Ano Glyfada, 2109613400.
Participation was free for mums (or dads) with their baby in a baby carrier and the event was organised within the framework of International Babywearing Week 2011.
SPECIAL: Asteraki Slings at the Friends’ Corner Bazaar
On Sunday, 23 October 2011, Asteraki Slings took part in the Friends’ Corner “Bizarre Bazaar”, where they were available for sale.
In the beautiful courtyard of Friends’ Corner, free face painting for the children, homemade treats, creative activities and opportunities for affordable shopping!
