How Asteraki Mei Tai carriers are made

Fabrics-Stitching:

Durable cotton fabrics for a carrierAn “Asteraki” Mei Tai is made with love and care by hand from beginning to end. We use very good quality durable fabrics made of 100% cotton and excellent threads. Your baby’s safety is our primary concern. The straps of your Mei Tai are stitched deep into the main body (not just at the edges), with triple seams, and are reinforced with reinforcement seams (that take the tension from all sides). So you can be 100% sure that it will withstand your baby (and your second baby, and your third … !) for many, many years!

Straps at the right angle

The straps have been carefully studied so as to be stitched at the most suitable angle!Your baby’s comfort is of course hugely important! In an “Asteraki” Mei Tai, even very small babies can have their legs out, because the lower part is made without padding so that it can easily “gather” between the baby’s legs. For the same reason, the lower straps are stitched at an angle, and this puts less tension on the lower side than a Mei Tai with a single straight long strap. So one can easily “gather up” the Mei Tai at the bottom (and this is needed not only for small babies, but also for the position where the baby faces forward with the legs out).

Padded straps for comfort

Padding-cushioning on the straps for comfort in the carrier!Your own comfort matters to us just as much! The wide straps of your Mei Tai are padded internally with soft fiberfill at the height of your shoulders, so that you do not feel pressure at any point. All four straps are stitched at an angle that has been studied very carefully so as to offer the greatest comfort and safety for all positions and all tying methods. In Asteraki Mei Tai carriers, nothing is left to chance! It does not matter whether you are big or small, nor whether you have wide or narrow shoulders, your Mei Tai will fit you like a glove!

For newborns up to at least three years old

And of course, our goal is for you to be comfortable with your Mei Tai from the very first day of your baby’s birth until at least the age of 3 years! That is why your Mei Tai will have a large, comfortable main body, which you can fold to wear with a newborn baby but which will equally support a tall child! On the rounded top part we place internal padding of soft fiberfill, which will support the head of a small baby or of a baby that falls asleep in your arms! And when you do not need it, you will fold it outwards and let your baby have their arms out and free! We have also thought of the older babies who start babywearing after 6 months and sometimes protest when they are too “close” to mum: the wide body and the rounded top side allow them to be a little further from mum’s body (so they can “turn around” a bit but safely).A carrier for newborns up to at least three years old

Reversible (double-sided)

Yes! Your Mei Tai can be worn comfortably on both sides. This way you can comfortably combine both dad’s and mum’s preferences in one carrier! Note: On the inner side, the seams that reinforce the straps internally will be discreetly visible.A double-sided cradle carrier mei tai!

Asteraki carriers are unique. Do not follow instructions from this site with other carriers that are not Asteraki. See in the video below some of the reasons why this is important.
