How to lay a sleeping baby down in their bed (without taking them out of the pouch)

Baby, 2 months old, just laid down asleep by her mum in bedVery often, babies fall asleep right away in our arms (in the pouch) because they feel comfortable and safe. You can lay your baby down in their bed without needing to move them or take them out of the sling. This way the baby keeps the “warmth” of the pouch, while your scent that stays on it helps them continue their sleep and not wake up!

The instructions below apply both with a ring sling and with a pouch.

We assume that your baby is sleeping inside the pouch in the “cradle position”. If your baby has fallen asleep in the “seated position”, you will bring both of their legs together, on the same side (the opposite side from the shoulder on which your pouch rests), and you will bring them, in one motion, into the “cradle position”.

Now, you will bend over the baby’s bed, laying their little back down there (together with the pouch). Then you will pass the pouch over your head and take it off, leaving it on the baby.
