Sling walk: Walk with your baby!
The best way to enjoy a baby carrier is to go for a lovely walk together with your baby. It is also the best way to try babywearing for the first time! Even if you have never worn a baby carrier before, your baby will surely love it when you walk!
We will meet at exactly 17:20, at the entrance of the National Youth Athletic Center of Agios Kosmas. We will put our baby in a carrier (those of us not already wearing one) and at 17:30 we will set off to cover a small part of the perimeter route. It will take us about half an hour and we will return to the starting point (where there is also a small cafe for anyone who wants to sit afterwards for a drink).
Come even if you don’t have a carrier! – Contact us by Thursday 10/10 so that we can arrange to bring a baby carrier for you to wear!
Come even if you have never tried babywearing before! – Before you start the route, we will make sure together that you are wearing your baby correctly.
Come even if you are not much of an athletic type! – The walk will be relaxed and the route very beautiful. (If you are very athletic, you may want to do the whole route, which is 2.7 km. We, however, will do about half of it!)
Come even if you don’t have company! – You will definitely find some there!
Wear comfortable shoes and clothes and bring a small bottle of water with you, as well as whatever you need for the baby. (Most of the route has nice shade, so even if it is very sunny that day, you probably won’t need a hat.)
Invite your friends on facebook!
Notes:
1. If this is your first contact with babywearing, we will put a baby carrier on you (ring sling, wrap or mei tai, depending on availability) and you will have the chance to see how the feel of that particular carrier suits you (and how much your little one likes it). There will be no time or possibility for training/demonstration at that moment. If you are interested in learning about and discussing babywearing and its rules and getting to know the various types of baby carriers better, come the next day, to the babywearing meeting.
2. No kind of wheeled vehicle is allowed on the route (and therefore no stroller either). If you absolutely want it with you, it would be a good idea for someone waiting at the cafe to look after it.
3. You can also come with your older children besides the baby, if they like to walk. Next to the cafe there is also a playground for them to play in when we return (if they still have the energy).
4. As always, participation is free and NO sales take place.
How to get to the National Youth Athletic Center of Agios Kosmas:
The main entrance to the Agios Kosmas facilities is on the coastal Poseidonos Avenue in Elliniko, right across from the old airport. If you choose to go there by public transport you have plenty of options, as all the buses that run along the coastal avenue stop in front of the entrance (A1, E1, A2, E2, E22, B2, etc.). Remember to get off at the 1st Agios Kosmas stop. If you prefer the tram, the line towards Voula stops at exactly the same spot. Finally, if you prefer to travel by car, there is a parking area.
Address: Poseidonos Avenue (opposite the former Western Airport of Elliniko), Elliniko P.C. 16777
